A child with a group of balloons with text "It's Physical Therapy Month"

October is finally here, bringing with it the first signs of cooler temperatures, colorful leaves, pumpkins, and most importantly – National Physical Therapy Month.  National Physical Therapy Month is celebrated each October by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). APTA uses it as an opportunity to reach out to the community about the many ways that physical therapists improve quality of life through hands-on-care, patient education, and prescribed movement.

Physical therapy is a corner stone in the treatment of many musculoskeletal and neurological conditions ranging from arthritis to vertigo, and from sprains, strains and fractures, to stroke. It utilizes a variety of techniques including manual therapy, exercise, balance training, and patient education. It can also help eliminate pain in a wide range of conditions such as lower back pain, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, and bursitis.

Virtually anyone may benefit from physical therapy from an aging adult, an athlete, or even a newborn. Regular physical exercise is one of the easiest ways to reduce the risk of chronic disease and to improve quality of life.

Make physical activity a priority to:

• Aid in weight management

• Lower blood pressure and improve heart health

• Improve joint pain and stiffness

• Maintain muscle strength and balance

Physical therapists aim to help find relief from pain, improve mobility, and get you back to the life you love. So, what’s not to celebrate? To begin living a pain-free life, contact us today.
